There is a kind of design that is less invention than salvage. You walk into the room of recent ideas and start naming things — the gaps between them, the textures, the way one shape leans against another. Eventually you have a small collection. Then you arrange it.

This archive is that collection. The objects inside it were never built to be useful. Each one is a hypothesis about what the inside of a thought looks like when you try to draw it.

A dandelion is a perfect data structure. Each seed-head holds a single value. The stem holds them all. When the wind comes, the cloud disperses; the structure dissolves; the same form reappears across the field.

The semantic cloud in this archive is built the same way. A query finds its neighbors, a fan of words orbits a center, and a stem leads down to whatever earth they share — a root, a context, an etymology that was always there.

Volume one is a permission to keep going. The number is small because the work is small; the work is small because we are still learning to look. The next volume will be different. Every volume is supposed to be.
